History

Old times:

Band was founded 1985 by Kaide (ex-Raivotauti). He wanted to set up a band which name would describe the state of the world, so the band was named Sekasorto (meaning "Disorder", "Chaos" or "Anarchy" in English).

After few member changes band line-up became Kaide - vocals, Timo (ex-Lahdatut) - bass, Kartsa (ex-Lahdatut) - guitar and Vepu -drums. Band was known at aggressive hardcorepunk music and very idealistic and anarchistic lyrics. In fact they had special combination of music and poetry in their gigs and in their fist "Anarkistinen Maailma" LP (released 1988). Most of Sekasorto songs were composed by Kartsa. Sekasorto was also known by very impressive stage acting with black anarchist flags, commando men, megaphones, etc on stage.

Band did many gigs in Finland in very different kind of places; in demonstations, squats, restaurants, schools, etc. One of the most unforgottable gig was in Finlandia-talo (famous Finnish culture house) where was "Innocent Children's day" charity concert. In the audience there were for example the president of Finland Mauno Koivisto with his wife Tellervo and city manager and other notable persons of society. So it was a change of lifetime to attack against rich and conceited people. And the best of all, they even had to clap their hands to Kaide after the show.

Band has also been in some TV-programs in finnish and swedish TV. Best known maybe "Kaide and Vox Populi"-document (1987).

Sekasorto's second album "Luonnon Puolesta" was not released until 1991. Now there weren't anymore poems in album and the music was improved very much.In this album the drummer was Haba.

All Sekasorto's records were released by bands own record label Kai records because they didn`t want to anyone else (Rock-o-rama, Propaganda records etc.) release them.

In early 90's there was a few years break in Sekasorto's activity (all guys just disappeared somewhere as Kaide says). Timo and Kartsa formed a new band Myrros and Kaide continued acting with various civil rights organizations etc.

…Until unavoidable happened and Sekasorto did a reunion gig 4.3.1998 in Helsinki with two original members Kaide and Timo. The gig was great and so the band started to work again, they did some gigs in Finland and some new material and demos. Sekasorto's line-up has changed a lot in the course of years but they have always gotten new members and started to play again..Once You have anarchist attitude, You always have it..

Second coming:

Soon after first gig of second coming line-up turned up to following shape: Kaide - vocals, Janne - guitar, Timo - bass and Sami - drums. After few gig later same year 1998 Janne left the band as there were not enough musical challenges playing such a simple and straight forwarded hardcore. Ex-drummer Haba played guitar in last gig organized in famous venue "Lepakko". Gig were also recorded and released later as a compilation cd.

Tony started to play guitar in 2000 and so band found longest lasting line-up so far. This line-up existed as long as 15 years, which is nearly half of the band's lifetime. During that age band played gigs all the time without bigger breaks, but unfortunately recorded only several tracks to some compilation records without releasing any own record. Some people actually think that band had split up again as no new releases came out.

But that will be changed soon...

Third coming:

After Sami has left the band and some random guy, who were playing drums for short period, was kicked out from the band, band were again in a situation with nobody playing drums. Timo met Janne in a legendary bar "Kolme Kaisaa" in Kallio area first time for years and asked "Do you know anybody, who would be interested in playing drums in Sekasorto?". Janne answered after few seconds of thinking "Hmm... I could come to try. It could be interesting to play drums in Sekasorto. It could give some challenge I needed earlier. And I like to play with double pedal and earlier bands didn't let me do so. But I am still a guitarist, I cannot promise I can actually be the guy, who is able to play drums enough well."

Band were also without a rehearsal room, so we rented a legendary "Studio 303" for several hours to test, if line-up felt good or not? After test play, Timo, Tony and Janne decided, that this could work out and started to find a new rehearsal room. Meanwhile we did order to music store Thomann for a new snare drum, double pedal, etc. to get basic equipments to play in a shared rehearsal room. Symbals Janne had from the past from Heterofobia times, when Janne last time played drums in a band. Just needed to find them somewhere, and we did find them. Also we found rehearsal room and started to practise hard. Later Kaide also came and said "Now we start again to sound like we did at the best times in early 90's.", and that is a good sign.

After half a year of hard work it became a time for the first gig with this line-up: Kaide - vocals, Tony - guitar, Timo - bass and Janne - drums. Gig were held in legendary Tvo in Turku, organized by Petri Vallin. Gig was sold out, and whole band were thinking, yes, this works. Thought it was not sold out because of Sekasorto as there were very popular "new" band Huora and legendary Sätkynukke from the past and Mekkala playing classic Mellakka.

Anyway, also audience liked the band and started to talk about us to friends. It did not took a long time before we got a message, that we are invited to play in legendary and biggest d.i.y. punk festival of northern Europe, Puntala Rock. In a main stage, of course. Saturday around 6pm, which is best possible time for the band to play before getting too drunk (well, Kaide still do not drink alcohol, nothing has changed).

Unfortunaly Tony decided to leave the band in October 2017, so it was again a time to change line-up. Timo found much younger, but very talented, guitarist Joonas. But Joonas also have a plan to go study far away from Finland in the future, so in spring 2018 Mika came to play bass while Timo started to play second guitar until Joonas moves away. So when that sad day comes, that Joonas will leave the band, we will not need to have a break of gigs or whatever.

We recorded 3 songs for split 7" with Oi Polloi in May and record came out in September 2020. We also filmed 3 music videos in May and first music video ever of Sekasorto were published by Beer Punks video productions in August 2019.

Future:

Will write new songs for upcoming publications.

We are also going to have a U.K. tour in May 2020.
